About

Cupcake Collage

I’m a person that cares deeply about the feelings of others and will go to the ends of the earth to make those I care about happy. I trust easily and have faith that people are good until proven otherwise. I agree that time heals all wounds and that each day is a gift. I say what I mean, mean what I say and am horrible with subtleties. If I want something I’m willing to work for it as I consider anything worth having requires effort. I am scattered brained, have a relatively short attention span and tend to begin multiple projects at once while actually finishing few. So this blog has now become a consolidation of my sometimes jumbled thought processes and attempts to help anyone out there that is willing to read this. I truly hope to help someone, anyone, that has gone through or is going through some of the same experiences that I have.

Hi Candid Cupcakes: While I appreciate your interest in my interview in TIME Magazine titled See the Photographs from Vietnam that Changed a Veteran’s Life, The photos that are the subject are not those in your repost. Here is the link to the TIME Magazine story by Lilly Rothman and the 15 photos selected by the TIME Magazine photo editor for the TIME Gallery. It might be helpful to put this link at the end so readers can see the pictures. Thank you. Christopher Gaynor. http://time.com/3823890/christopher-gaynor-vietnam-photographs/

Thank you so much for your comment & for the link enclosed! For some reason I have difficulty accessing pictures posted by Time so I improvised. I do apologize for not showcasing your photos as intended in the article & hope that you do not mind my repost.

It was a very fascinating piece that offered a unique perspective that I think is important for the world to see. Thank you for your candor & for providing an opportunity to see a new side of that time.

AtThank for responding to my comment. I think after looking again you did get the link in at the end of the piece. I was Googleing myself when I came across your blog. I will read it when I get a chance and put a link in my Facebook for anything that might interest my 997 FB friends, mostly veterans and a lot of Vietnamese friends. The story had more than 9,000 shares in many languages. A few days after the TIME story went in TIME.com I was interviewed by Tim Franks for the BBC Newshour in the BBC World Service. That aired on NPR on April 30 to mark the 40th Anniversary of the Fall of Saigon. If that sounds of interest I can send the podcast to you. Thanks again for your interest. C.

Hi Candid; Thank you again for your interest in the TIME Magazine story about me and my Vietnam War photographs. As I mentioned above, when I scrolled down to the end of the article I saw that you indeed had correctly placed the link to TIME.com. I have recently discovered that this little story has been “shared” more than 9,000 times. A quick Google search unearthed a couple of dozen, including 5 on Vietnamese news web sites, one in Greek and a whole bunch of web sites from across the globe. On April 30, the 40th Anniversary of the Fall of Saigon and the end of the Vietnam War, I was interviewed by Tim Franks, main presenter on the BBC Newshour in the BBC World Service radio network. I was, as far as I know. the only American Vietnam Veteran that the BBC interviewed. If you have any interest, I can send the Podcast to you. Thank you again. I am exploring your blog and find it very interesting, with a lot of stories one might not see otherwise. I am a great believer in free expression and welcome all kinds of people onto my Facebook. The more diverse the beliefs and politics of my FB friends the happier I am. C.

I’m so happy to hear that your story has been so highly appreciated & viewed! It was incredibly fascinating & really offered a rare perspective that I found to be refreshing & inherently unique, which is obviously why I chose to share it as well. I try to post perspectives, stories & thoughts that people don’t normally encounter to broaden awareness & simply because I find it all interesting. Thank you for allowing me to share it on my definitely eclectic page. I would love to view the podcast & will check out your Facebook page as well. My facebook is mostly devoted to personal events, quotes & animal rescue information so not nearly as broad as my site here – sure much less interesting lol.
